2019 Future Farmers Student Connect Project
Thursday morning, May 9, saw SCF Communications Manager, Kathi McDonald, and Board Member, Clare Webster, present to Year 11 and 12 ATAR Students at the WA College of Agriculture Denmark as part of SCF's Future Farmers Student Connect Project. WACOA Denmark is one of three local schools participating in the project this year, along with Great Southern Grammar and Mount Barker Community College. The program aims to better equip students by providing better links between farmers, industry professionals and students and introducing them to the wide range of industry employment opportunities the Ag and NRM sector provides. Specific activities include lectures to students on relevant SCF projects and the fundamentals of on-farm demonstration trials, technology demonstrations and field walks to SCF trials and demonstrations. There is also the opportunity for members to host students for work experience. If you are interested in hosting a student, please get in touch with SCF Memberships Officer, Sammy Lubke on firstname.lastname@example.org. The program is funded by the Commonwealth government's National Landcare Program.
