Careers in Agriculture

‘Careers in Agriculture’ with WA College of Agriculture, Denmark

Earlier this year SCF launched a new Student Membership and Mentoring Program in partnership with the WA College of Agriculture-Denmark. The program aims to support the youth and the future of the agricultural industry by providing better links between farmers and agricultural students. As part of this, an Agricultural Careers Information Session was held at the College on the afternoon of Thursday 18th October introducing students to key speakers from the Ag industry who spoke about the wide range of agricultural career paths open to young people.

Speakers included representatives from a range of Agricultural careers - grain marketing, agronomist, wool broker, DPIRD researchers, forestry and corporate farm management, among others. An interesting point was the widely varying paths that our presenters had taken to their present careers, and that all were passionate about the Agricultural Industry and excited about the future of the industry and what it has to offer young people in the way of a diverse career.

SCF will be expanding the Student Connect Project to other local schools next year, and will be running more Careers in Agriculture events in the future.
